Kenya finishes behind Eriteria and Ethiopia at the World Half Marathon Championships


Kenya bagged two bronze medals at the 20th IAAF World Half Marathon Championships held in Kavarna on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, Saturday.
Eriteria’s Zersenay Tadese displayed his dominance in the World Half Marathon with a record fifth gold medal in a time of 60 min 19 sec. Second place went to Deressa Chimsa from Ethiopia while Kenya’s John Mwangangi came in third for a bronze medal.
However, Kenya bagged the team race as it had four runners in the top six.

Lesser-Known Hailu upsets favourite Chepkorir
In the women’s division, Meseret Hailu posted a personal best of 68 min 55 sec to lead compatriot Feyse Tadese (68:56) in an Ethiopian 1-2 while Kenya’s Pascalia Chepkorir (69:04) who is the winner of the Sao Paolo Half Marathon came in third to bag the first bronze medal for Kenya.
Lydia Cheromei finished in fourth place in a time of 69 min 13 sec to ensure Kenya claimed second place in the team race.
