Ferguson Wants Victor Wanyama at Manchester United

Victor Wanyama

Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama is Sir Alex Ferguson top target in the January transfer window. The Kenyan international enjoyed a great debut season at Celtic last season, helping the Bhoys win the Scottish Premier League title having made 29 appearances.

Wanyama has carried this impressive form into the club's current campaign, including playing a starring role in the stunning 2-1 win over Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.

That success is likely to see the 21-year-old remain at Parkhead for the knockout stages, but it is then expected that he will make a big-money move to England.

Ferguson is keen to bolster his midfield options at Old Trafford, and he is thought to have made the Bhoys star his leading target at around £12million.

Wanyama scores in 2-0 win against St. Mirren

Wanyama helped Celtic win 2-0 against St. Mirren at the Celtic Park on Saturday evening. A fine save from Craig Samson stopped Wanyama's header on the quarter-hour mark but the keeper did little to stop the resounding rebound from the Kenyan midfielder.

The second goal came courtesy of Gary Hooper in the 83rd minute.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has urged Wanyama and Hooper to sign the new contracts they have been offered by the club.

Wanyama has scored 7 goals this season while Celtic is leading the league with 34 points having played 17 matches.
