National Art Competition: 2013 MASK Art Prize

The 2013 MASK Art Prize annual national art competition in Kenya, is now open to

- any Kenyan school (state or private, polytechnics, colleges and universities), and

- any young person up to the age of 25 who lives in Kenya or is a member of the Kenya diaspora.

ENTER the artworks to win Prizes and exhibit at the Nairobi National Museum in June 2013 and the Saatchi Gallery in London in September 2013. 

Here are the prizes up for grabs:

The three best artists will be awarded a prize of Ksh55,000 each, and one of them – a trip to London.

One school, with the best and highest number of artworks entered, will be awarded a year’s supply of art materials worth Ksh100,000.

The winning artists and the representatives of the winning school will be invited to the Prize-Giving Ceremony in Nairobi on 11th June 2013.

ENTER for FREE any number of artworks (paintings, drawings, prints, collages, or works made
out of recycled materials) on paper, canvas, or boards on the theme “What makes you proud about Kenya”, not smaller than A4 (30x21cm) or larger than A1 (85x60cm).  The artwork should be original and unaided and will be judged on the quality of execution and ideas represented.  NOTE: The organisers are not able to return any artworks entered or provide art materials.

Simply POST your school’s BEST artworks to:
MASK ART PRIZE, Elsamere Centre, P.O. Box 1497, Naivasha, KENYA,
or EMAIL 1-2Mb RGB jpg images, 300 pix/inch resolution to contact@mobileartschoolinkenya.org.

NOTE: if your emailed images are selected (on which you will be notified in early May),
you will need to post or deliver the original artworks to the Nairobi National Museum by 15 May.
You MUST include all of the following information:

for artists : title of the artwork, name and the age of the artist, tel number and email.
for schools : title of the artwork, name and the age of the pupil, school’s address, teacher’s name, tel number and email.

The MASK ART PRIZE is organised by MASK (Mobile Art School in Kenya), a UK registered, not-for-profit charity, and is authorized by the Kenyan Ministry of Education.
