Alexander Ikawah, a graphic designer with NTV has been shortlisted for the prestigious Commonwealth Short Story Prize.
The author of 'Fatima Saleh' will battle it out with 18 shortlists including Uganda's social activist Dilman Dila ('A Killing in the Sun') and Nigerian law student, Tobenna Nwosu ('No War is Worth Debating').
In Fatima Saleh, Ikawah explores the life of a Somali woman in Kakuma refugee camp who turns down an offer of help in order to fight against her antagonists.
The 25-year-old who also doubles as a film maker recently bagged a science-fiction writing contest organized by Lesleigh Inc in conjunction with UP magazine in Nairobi.
