Applications for the 2012 UNEP Ozone Africa Media Awards
will be now accepted until September 18, 2012, midnight, Nairobi time.
The Ozone Africa Media Award recognizes exemplary
contributions by the media to the phase out of Ozone layer protection in Africa
by promoting understanding of environmental issues particularly targeting
ozone-related challenges, through compelling and newsworthy individual stories (in
print both audio and audiovisual media) which
would make a valuable impact.
Those eligible
The competition is open to all Arabic, English, French and
Portuguese-speaking journalists in Africa from the Print, TV, Radio, and Online
media.
The submissions will go through a jury composed of
representatives of the Montreal Protocol implementing agencies and select media
experts.
Awards will be given as follows:
J
Best TV – $1500
J
Best Radio –$1500
J
Best Print (online and offline) – $1500
While winning stories will be published on the UNEP and its
Partners’ websites.
The Ozone Africa Media Award was established in 2010 by the UNEP Ozone Compliance Assistance Programme in Africa in partnership with the African Network of Environment Journalists (ANEJ).
