Information and Communications Minister Samuel Poghisio has
appointed Francis Wamukota Wangusi as the new Communication Commission of Kenya
(CCK) director-general.
The appointment comes after the High Court ruled the
re-appointment of Charles Njoroge as director-general irregular back in May.
Wangusi, who took over as the acting director-general, beat
Telkom Kenya’s legal head, Stephen Kiptinness and CCK’s secretary John Omo who
had been shortlisted.
He has over 27 years of experience in the communication industry
and holds a Masters degree in Space Science (Satellite Communications) from the
International Space University, France.
He also holds a BSc in Telecommunications Engineering from
the University of Rome, Italy and a Chartered Engineer Part II Certificate from
the Institute of Electronics Engineering, UK.
