Jason Dunford Bags Gold in the 100m Butterfly

Olympics finalist Jason Dunford won Kenya’s first gold medal in the men’s 100m butterfly at the ongoing 11th Senior Africa Swimming Championships on Tuesday.
The 25-year old swimmer posted a leading time of 53.16 seconds to win in front of a large cheering crowd at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
Second place went to Egypt’s Adel Osman (55.47) with Oussama Sahnoune (55.79) of Algeria finishing third to seal the podium finish.
 “I have the weight of many Kenyans on my shoulders and I really need to push myself in the remaining three events,” said Dunford who is scheduled to compete in the 50m backstroke and 100m freestyle heats on Wednesday.
On Monday when the championships kicked off, Dunford won Silver and Bronze in the men’s 50m breaststroke and 200m Freestyle.  
In the 2010 Morocco Championships, Dunford scooped 2 gold medals in butterfly and 2 freestyle silver medals.
