SocialPro Clubs is expected to bring together Twitter Power users, speakers, Venture Capitalists, lecturers, bloggers, industry experts, digital marketing agencies, as well as organizations that have immensely contributed to the growth of social media in Kenya.
Social Clubs that are meant to ease content sharing and
networking amongst Kenyan varsity students and faculty in large by harnessing
the power of social media are expected to be launched in October.
Dubbed SocialPro Clubs,
is an initiative of Social Edge Africa and will be launched on 11th
October at the University of Nairobi, School of Business (Lower Kabete).
“SocialPro Clubs will bridge the Information gap currently
experienced in Universities by providing a platform (both online and offline) for
exchange of ideas and to share opportunities among university students thus
boost collaboration,” explained Muthuri Kinyamu, the founder of Social Edge
Africa.
“The core objective of these clubs is to teach, educate
students, create awareness, and impart knowledge and skills on social media,” the
24-year-old added.
The pilot phase will be in 4 universities namely; Strathmore
University, Multimedia University, Kenyatta University and USIU in October and
November.
Social Edge Africa has partnered with the Ministry of
Information and Technology, Nairobi Hub, Kuza Biashara and University of
Nairobi to ensure the success of its initial phase.
