Kenya Put Up A Good Performance Despite Lose to England

Kenya came from behind to shock hosts New Zealand 19-14, having trailed 14-0 in the first half, to reach the 2013 Hertz-Wellington Sevens final.

Mike Friday's side later faced England in a thrilling Main Cup final on Saturday where they put up a battling performance despite a 19-24 loss. Kenya was looking forward to its first Main Cup win before the game went into extra time, where each side had 19 points. England struck in sudden death to clinch the coveted Wellington Sevens.

However, the performance leaves Kenya ranked second in the HSBC Sevens World Series ranking after New Zealand with 56 points while the latter has 77 points.

In the quarterfinals, Kenya had defeated African rivals South Africa 21-20. Earlier in Pool 'B' Kenya reigned supreme winning 3 matches over France ( 24-12), Argentina (12-0) and Tonga (17-10) on Friday.

The team awaits the Las Vegas Sevens.
