Kenya Meets South Africa in Glasgow 7s

Kenya sevens side enters the 2013 round of 8 International Rugby Sevens World Series in Scotland this weekend (May 4th and 5th May 2013).

Mike Friday's boys are in Pool A of the Emirates Glasgow 7s alongside South Africa, Samoa and Canada. Expected at the event are 15 international rugby teams who are to compete for Neide Hag Cup and series points for themselves.

Kenya through to Hong Kong 7s Semis

Kenya's Shujaa saw off Portugal 15-12 in the main cup quarters of the Hong Kong Sevens on Sunday morning.

Portugal opened the score-sheet with a try from Duarte Moreira and a conversion by Pedro Leal in the second minute.Willy Ambaka later broke Portugal's defense to score with Biko Adema converting to make it a 7-7 draw.

Shujaa, Stars March On


Kenya's rugby sevens team, Shujaa and the National football side, Harambee Stars made the nation proud with outstanding showings in their respective fields of play on Saturday.

Shujaa Reach the Main Cup Quarters in Hong Kong

The Kenya 7s lads started their Hong Kong Sevens campaign with a 17-14 win over USA on Friday. Tries from skipper Andrew Amonde, Dennis Ombachi and a conversion of the first try by Biko Adema saw Mike Friday's Boys await New Zealand challenge on Saturday.

Series leaders New Zealand stepped Kenya to end the match 31-7 in an early encounter on Saturday. Willy Ambaka was the only Kenyan who managed to cross the try line.

Kenya's Team to Hong Kong 7s Named

Kenya Sevens assistant coach Felix Ochieng has named the squad that will represent Kenya at the Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens on 22-24 March 2013.

Mike Friday's boys who are sixth in the IRB rankings will face log leaders New Zealand, France and USA in Pool 'B'.

Kenya Face New Zealand in Hong Kong 7s


Kenya have been drawn in Pool B of the Hong Kong Sevens alongside New Zealand, USA and France. The event which marks the sixth round of the 2012/2013 HSBC Sevens World Series will kick off on March 22nd and run till the 24th.

Kenya to Face South Africa for Las Vegas 7s


Kenya has been pooled in Group 'B' alongside African rivals South Africa, Canada and Uruguay for the forthcoming 5th leg of the IRB sevens circuit in Las Vegas, USA next weekend.

Mike Friday's boys who are ranked second in the HSBC World Series Ranking defeated South Africa 21-20 in the quarterfinal of the Wellington Sevens in New Zealand.

Pool B: Kenya, South Africa, Canada, Uruguay

Kenya Put Up A Good Performance Despite Lose to England

Kenya came from behind to shock hosts New Zealand 19-14, having trailed 14-0 in the first half, to reach the 2013 Hertz-Wellington Sevens final.

Mike Friday's side later faced England in a thrilling Main Cup final on Saturday where they put up a battling performance despite a 19-24 loss. Kenya was looking forward to its first Main Cup win before the game went into extra time, where each side had 19 points. England struck in sudden death to clinch the coveted Wellington Sevens.

Kenya Trounce Spain to Advance to the Main Cup Quarters

Kenya beat Spain 26 -14 to win the second match of the day and go through to main cup quarters of the Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens on Saturday afternoon. 

Lavin Asego opened the score sheet with a try and a successive conversion. 
The second try came from Humphrey Kayange who scored at the corner with Asego converting to make it 14-0. 
Dennis Ombachi delivered the third try with Asego missing the conversion ending the first half 19-0.

In the second half, Carlos Blanco made a try with Pedro Martin converting to make it 19-7. Martin touch down and Ignacio Martin conversion left the score line 19-14. 
In the wee minutes of the match, Willy Ambaka touched down under the posts and Asego converted to end the game 26-14. 

Next Clash Kenya vs. Wales 8:14 pm EAT. 

Kenya Beats Argentina in Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens

Kenya has beaten Argentina 21-17 in their opening pool C match at the HSBC Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

Andrew Amonde's try and Lavin Asego's conversion opened the score sheet.
Willy Ambaka's try and Lavin Asego's second conversion saw Kenya go 14-0 up.
Davis Chege's try and Lavin Asego's third conversion left Kenya 21-0 up as the first half closed.

In the second half Kenya survived a scare after Jeromino de la Fuente unconverted try, Gaston Revol try as well as a conversion by teammate Matias Moroni to end the clash 21-17.

Kenya Finishes 3rd in Dubai Sevens

Kenya beat France 15-12 in the third place playoff to finish with 17 points at the 2012 Emirates Dubai Sevens.Kenya now boasts of 32 points after 2 legs of the 2012/2013 HSBC Sevens World Series.

Earlier in the day, Kenya lost to New Zealand 27-7 in the main cup semifinals.In the quarterfinals, the boys saw off Canada with a 19-7 triumphant win.   

Yesterday they won two out of three matches in Pool A to qualify for the quarterfinals. In their opening match, they beat Scotland 12-5 before later defeating Spain 10-7. Kenya, however, lost 10-14 to Fiji in the final match of the day.

Mike Friday’s boys now look forward to South Africa’s Port Elizabeth Sevens where they are drawn alongside Wales, Argentina, and Spain.
