Day 8 of the ongoing London 2012 Olympic Games at Olympic Stadium
Milcah Cheywa Chemos and compatriot Mercy Wanjiku Njoroge qualified
for Monday’s 3000m steeplechase final in their respective heats on Saturday afternoon.
In heat one, Chemos finished third [and eighth overall] in a time of
9:27.09 behind German Krause Gesa Felicitas who won in 9:24.91 and Ethiopia’s
Diro Etenesh with9:25.31.
In heat three, Mercy also finished third [sixth overall]
posting a time of 9:25.99 to trail Ethiopia’s Ayalew Hiwot who won in 9:24.01.
Second place went to Russia’s Yuliya Zaripova in 9.25.68.
In heat two, Lydia
Chebet managed to finish 8th and 25th overall clocking
9:42.03 to miss the Monday’s Finals.
