Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) are the 2012 Driftwood Sevens
champions after beating Kenya Harlequins (Quins) 17-10 in a thrilling main cup final played at the Mombasa
Sports Club on Sunday afternoon.
The bankers who also boast winning the 2012 Prinsloo Sevens sealed
the win after a spectacular conversion from Collins Kimani.
Quins however, walked
home heads high as the overall winners of the 2012 edition of national sevens
circuit after finishing top in the national log.
In the Plate finals, Impala beat Nakuru 17-0 to emerge the
winners of the Plate title.
In the Bowl finals, Western Bulls shocked former champions
Mwamba RFC, beating them 10-0 to lift the Bowl
title.
In the Spear finals, Mount Kenya beat JKUAT Voi 12-5 to take
the Spear.
In the Shield finals, Comras beat Stormers 10-5 to lift the Shield title.
The driftwood sevens marked the final leg of the National Sevens
Circuit, which saw circuit leaders Kenya Harlequins bag the Christies Sevens, Dala
Sevens, and Kabeberi Sevens while KCB win the Driftwood sevens, and Prinsloo sevens.
Rugby Action resumes this Friday at the Nyayo National
Stadium for the 2012 Safaricom Safari Sevens.
Kenya Harlequins will participate in the event courtesy of being the overall winners of the national sevens circuit.
